The plot was good but, for me, the paragraphs (pages, really) describing in detail the scenery, every board and stone in the buildings being restored, and the work done in the conservatory made the action seem to move in slow (very slow) motion. I started skimming over a lot of it very early in the story. When Sunny Goodwin received word that she had inherited a silk mill in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia she was elated. She intended to sell it as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, she finds that is only one of several others who inherit shares of the mill. Odder still, she learns that the father that she never knew had left behind a ten year old daughter. The mill is being renovated by Sawyer Hartwell who had assumed that he would be the sole inheritor as he had been adopted by Sunny's father and her father's ex-wife, Addie. The characters are fairly well developed but the story only really comes alive when Sawyer's friend Seth is around. He's smart and funny and makes everyone else seem like cardboard characters at times. This book could easily have been a 5 star book if a good editor had slashed some of the unnecessary inner thoughts and overly descriptive passages. I intend to give Ms Kauffman another try as several reviewers have mentioned that her other books are much better.Sexual situations (PG-13) may offend some readers

5+ Stars Excellent! Stand-alone that is easy to follow. No graphic violence or drag-you-down drama.Compelling storyline with descriptive writing. The reader is drawn in to the people and the assorted projects.Believable characters with distinct personalities, positive attitudes and goals.Informative, thought-provoking, possibly inspiring, and entertaining dialogue.“I like keeping order. Call it childhood PTSD. Once I figured out that being on top of and ahead of things was far better than being behind and under things, I’ve worked hard to keep things on track and moving as smoothly as possible.”“I know what you mean. Like when a person is fired from a job and thinks, oh, that’s an opportunity to look for a job they really love, when maybe, if they examined their disappointment in the loss, what getting fired really did for them was make them recognize they already had the job they wanted, but didn’t work hard enough to keep it.”Short review: read it.The author has included links to various items that play a part in this story.I may re-read this story and look forward to more works by this author.

I thoroughly enjoyed Blue Hollow Falls, and may read the 2nd book, coming out soon, I believe. We meet Sunny, love child of a hippie Mom, who inherits part of an old mill in the hills of West Virginia. ... at the same time, she discovers she has a young half-sister, and a half-brother , Sawyer, who is handsome as they make 'em and a war -hero as well. And doting "Mom" to Sawyer, who believes in fate, and wants to bring this family together. I loved the way that the discovery of a huge Victorian-style greenhouse made the heroine almost start believing in fate, too. Really enjoyed this as a light, "escapism" ebook, that is humorous and heart-warming. At times, though, I did "scan over" some paragraphs that became just too slowed down by lengthy descriptions of some settings, which slowed down the slow-developing "chemistry" .

I didn't expect to like this. Oh, but I did. It started out slowly, or so I thought. Then I realized it was me. My attention span in this digital world is shorter than an army hair cut. But when I let myself slow down, I melded into the world. If you're looking for a 'wham bam thank you, Maam' ride in the hay truck this isn't it. What (lucky) you get is to shadow this richly woven tale of family and love. You'll taste the apple pie. Hear the hawks in the woods over the rush of the waterfall. See the stars. Feel the heat between Sunny and Sawyer. Find yourself wanting to move to that mill--heck, even want to pitch in and happily put your back out heaving slate tiles to the rugged Seth on the roof. AND the author made me laugh out loud. Stay with this all the way to the end. You'll be happy you did. Can't wait for the next book in this series!

What a wonderfull start for a new series! I enjoy the stories that involve the goodwill of whole comunities working for a common goal, as they usually give me a nice fuzzy good feeling. And I really liked the principal characters ,but also the secondary characters were well developed. It was a nice emotional story about finding family , friends and love. I really hope Ms Kaufmann writes really fast as I'm sitting on the edge anxiously waiting for Seth's story, I now I'll have a bit to wait as Stevie's comes first.

I bought this months ago and left it to the side. I picked it up when I wanted something to read and was rewarded with characters I liked. I wanted the story to continue. Definitely will read more from this author. I know 5 stars seem high and it's not perfect but how else can I tell an inspiring writer that I appreciate her and am happy to add to my favorites. I keep reading everything I can get my hands on after the fun I had with this book.

Donna Kauffman does it again. Few authors draw you into a community as well as she does. Oh how I wish Blue Hollow Falls was a real place. I'd be on my way there as soon as I could. By the end the cast of characters felt like family. Addie as the grandma and friend I would want, Bailey as the strong and brave little sister, Seth as the fun loving friend next door. And Sawyer and Sunny, drawn together through bizarre circumstances. Both brave and strong with plans for their future that didn't include each other. If you are looking for a summer escape to a place that will make you smile, and laugh and maybe even shed a happy tear or two, look no further than Blue Hollow Falls. I'm happy to be part of Team Blue Hollow Falls and can't wait for the next story.I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
