What fun and a darn good tale as well. If you haven't discovered Ms. Hanna's writing yet...Do so. Her two series are filled with foods, humor, and interesting murders. The characters stay with you as friends. The dialog is snappy and keeps you turning the pages.
Bravo! I love this author! She has managed to stump me completely, again! Every book in the series is excellent & this one got me...right up to the dramatic scene, I had the wrong suspect pegged for the crime. Boy, I love it when this happens.Once again, Gemma Rose finds herself by a dead body. Such an intriguing way to murder someone. Of course, the Old Biddies are investigating too, along with Gemma's handsome DI boyfriend. I can't say too much because I won't spoil the book, so BUY this Gemma Rose, and Muesli, in this excellent cozy mystery.
I have been a big fan of the Oxford Tearoom Mysteries since the first book. I always pre order as soon as a new one is announced. This time, H.Y.Hanna does choose a rather unusual method of murder. The characters are engaging. The stories well plotted. I do enjoy series where the characters develop over the course of the books. Having said this, though probably more enjoyable, this series doesn’t necessitate reading in order to to fully enjoy.
This was an interesting story and the journey to the reveal of the murderer was fascinating. Nicely done with fun from Gemma and the Old Biddies. I was not too thrilled with the sex toy store details and was the reason for 4 stars vs. 5. The animals in the story from Muesli to the collie dog to the mouse were amusing and added a special appeal. Interesting reality show theme and the story flowed well with excellent editing.
I discovered Ms. Hanna some time back and thoroughly love her books. I especially like the way she develops her characters so they walk off the page and into your home. This book is no different and is quite the page turner. I'm so happy that her relationship is progressing nicely and I hope I'll have as much energy as the Old Biddies when I reach their age. Great book.
I can't believe this is Gemma and Muesli's ninth adventure. Each book keeps getting better than the one before. Gemma and Muesli are an irresistible team. However the "supporting cast" is also outstanding. The "Old Biddies" are an astonishing blend of acute mental talents and astonishing lack of knowledge concerning down to earth knowledge.
Gemma has another murder to solve while she keeps up the catering order. This continues to be a fun story line and the characters are both funny and real enough for the cozy mystery genre. Looking forward to another adventure —soon I hope.
I liked this one too! I've read all of the books in this series and found them to be a pleasant diversion. The characters are all likeable and the story is engaging. I happily recommend this book as long as you aren't looking for a very serious murder.
